Sustainability in the supply chain

To uphold the highest standards of sustainability and ethical responsibility across its global supply chain, the Interroll Group mandates a rigorous, three-tiered ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation program for all suppliers. This comprehensive approach ensures that every partner, regardless of size or location, aligns with Interroll’s commitment to sustainability, risk mitigation and compliance with international regulations.

Interroll’s due diligence process is structured as follows:

Inherent Risk Screening

All prospective and existing suppliers undergo a risk assessment. The risk assessment analyzes critical factors such as the supplier’s geographic location (e.g., regions with high environmental or labor risks), industry sector (e.g., manufacturing, raw materials) and regulatory exposure. This data-driven process identifies inherent risks tied to human rights, environmental impact and governance practices, enabling Interroll to prioritize resources and develop tailored engagement strategies for higher-risk suppliers.

Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ)

To qualify as an approved vendor, new suppliers and selected existing suppliers must complete a detailed SAQ as a non-negotiable prerequisite for collaboration. This self-assessment evaluates the maturity of a supplier’s sustainability controls, focusing on critical areas such as:

  • Compliance with human and labor rights standards (e.g., fair wages, safe working conditions, anti-discrimination policies)
  • Environmental management systems (e.g., carbon footprint reduction, waste management, energy efficiency)
  • Governance practices (e.g., anti-corruption measures, transparency in reporting)

The SAQ serves as a foundational tool to assess a supplier’s awareness of ESG principles and their capacity to meet Interroll’s expectations. Existing suppliers are also required to update their SAQ periodically to reflect evolving practices.

On-Site Audits

For suppliers identified as high-risk or critical to Interroll’s operations, Interroll or  third-party auditors might conduct rigorous on-site inspections. These audits verify compliance with the Interroll Supplier Code of Conduct and international sustainability standards (e.g., ISO 14001). Auditors scrutinize documentation, interview employees and inspect facilities to ensure alignment with ethical labor practices, environmental safeguards and operational transparency. Non-conformities lead to corrective action plans, fostering accountability and driving continuous improvement.

Why this approach is essential for all suppliers

Interroll’s ESG program is not optional – it is a universal requirement designed to safeguard against systemic risks and to uphold corporate integrity. By applying this framework uniformly, Interroll:

  • Ensures fairness and consistency in evaluating suppliers across diverse regions and industries
  • Mitigates risks of supply chain disruptions linked to regulatory violations, environmental incidents or labor controversies
  • Strengthens long-term partnerships by supporting suppliers in achieving shared sustainability goals

For new suppliers, the SAQ acts as a gatekeeper, ensuring only those committed to responsible practices join Interroll’s supply chain. Existing suppliers benefit from ongoing feedback and collaboration to elevate their ESG performance.

Through this structured, multi-layered approach, Interroll reinforces its leadership in sustainable procurement while fostering a resilient, ethical, and future-ready global network of partners.
