Focus Topic: Climate Protection
In 2024, Interroll continued to measure its energy and emissions precisely by implementing energy monitoring tools at some of our locations.
Greenhouse gas emissions are a major cause of climate change, with impacts on nature and society.
While Scope 1 and 2 emissions account for just 1.4% of our total emissions, we are actively improving our own operations. Through a pilot project in Obrigheim, Germany and the rollout of smart energy management systems in Wermelskirchen and Baal, Germany, and Sant’Antonino, Switzerland, we’ve enhanced transparency around energy use in our production facilities. These systems provide real-time data on machinery and building performance, enabling targeted energy savings. We are also increasing the proportion of renewable energy we use and generating green energy on-site. In addition, cogeneration units at two German sites supply both heat and electricity, improving overall energy efficiency.
Scope 3 forms the largest share of our emissions, of which approximately 80% comes from the use of products sold by Interroll. Consequently, Interroll’s main contribution to climate protection is the creation of energy efficient products and systems.
