Focus Topic: Environmental Protection
In 2024, Interroll focused on reducing environmental impact by optimizing material use, improving packaging, and enhancing waste management across global sites.
Aside from climate protection, there are also other aspects of environmental protection, which primarily relate to the use of commodities and materials, water use, as well as waste and pollution.
With 40,904.2 metric tons of materials processed in 2024, our use of natural resources in production is a material aspect of sustainable corporate development.
To reduce our environmental impact, we implemented a variety of initiatives across our global sites. In Switzerland, improved material handling led to a reduction in plastic waste, while in the USA, new packaging equipment increased efficiency. Our site in Thailand cut down on wooden pallet usage by working closely with suppliers, and in Germany, we piloted paper-based packaging and transitioned to reusable solutions in Obrigheim.
We also made progress in waste management. Sites in China, Thailand, and the USA optimized material use, repurposed remnants, and improved hazardous waste handling. New design guidelines in Germany and molding machine upgrades in Switzerland helped to reduce production scrap. Across our locations, employee training and enhanced waste labeling strengthened awareness and accountability.
